Desert Table Kowitz New Years Celebration FMRealtyWith a New Year comes plans for a new you. Whether that means with health, home or looking within, most people are making resolutions for 2013. Some resolutions will immediately go to the wayside, while others may last another 5 or 6 months. Very few, however, will last.

This year, make a resolution that will stick. Say it with me -

?In this New Year I will not stress out over entertaining in my home.?

There, that feels good to say, doesn?t it?

We have looked high and low for great tips and tricks for throwing a low-key soiree and have done all the leg work for you? how?s that for stress free?

  1. Consider a Buffet ? This is hands down the best way of getting food to your guests. It creates an intimate, family feel and saves you from playing waiter all night.
  2. Prepare ? Preparing the night before can save you a lot of work the next day. Whether it is preparing food, cleaning or crossing off easy to-do?s from your list, we guarantee that you will feel much better about things once you see that you don?t have much to do the day of.
  3. Give it a Theme ? Deciding to have a theme could help you unify your d?cor and help plan your food and drink options. It also adds to a more festive atmosphere. Also consider your music choices when deciding on a theme.
  4. Clean Freak ? Don?t wait until the last minute to do a deep clean when you have so many other things to worry about. Do a deep clean of your home a week or so before so that all you have to do is tidy up, sweep or vacuum, and wipe surfaces. That?ll give you time to tackle something else on your list.
  5. Make Room ? Walk around your home as you prepare and remove items that could break or could be a tripping hazard. Also, consider re-arranging furniture to allow for guests to have room to sit and chat, or mingle depending on how formal or informal your get-together is.
  6. Bottom Line: Have fun! ? This is why you asked people to your home in the first place! Remember, this is supposed to be a good time for all, even you. Take time for yourself or have a drink while you get ready and relax.

Start your New Year?s resolution off on the right foot.

Happy party planning in 2013!
